It’s an effective tool for admins. It’s more than just a basic ping utility; it can scan the network, check for TCP port availability, wake up computers using Wake-on-Lan, and much more.
It wakes computers with Wake-on-Lan, checks if distant devices answer on certain TCP ports, provides direct access to devices via Telnet, SSH, and HTTP(s), and permanently displays the status of network devices (red/green).
